I think there may be a new leader in the ‘best desserts made so far’ competition (although D would disagree). For me, this cake had it all – chocolate mousse (and not too too much), thin layers of chocolate, hazelnut dacquoise and a surprise filling that reminded me of the crispy middle of a Ferrero Rocher. It was pretty much Nutella in cake form. The only thing I would change would be the type of chocolate – milk seemed too sweet but dark would be perfection…
It wasn’t the prettiest looking cake in the group but my tempered chocolate disks worked quite well. The lady beside me on the Metro would have taken it home, D said I should have offered it for 50 euros…
