We headed off for a walk this afternoon to Ile des Cygnes (or Island of the Swans). It’s a narrow artificial Island in the Seine that runs 850m long, built in the 1800’s.
To get there we headed down Rue de la Convention, under the Metro tracks and towards Place St. Charles.
Rue St. Charles is getting ready for a Saturday street festival, and so they had several food vendors set up. The breads and sausages looked incredible, but we couldn’t resist buying a couple of Macrons.
On the Island, there isn’t too much to see, but there are lots of boats to watch carrying all the tourists back and forth past all the attractions. At the very West end of the Island is a replica Statue of Liberty, given to the city by Parisians living in New York.
