Ok, so the actual name of this wine is not in full caps, nor does it contain any exclamation marks, but with a name like Gargantua, how can you resist. This bottle of red wine, of the Cotes du Rhone variety is our first foray into the sub $3 range (don’t worry, we can still go a lot lower).
Wine: Gargantua – Cotes du Rhone
Where’d we buy it: Fanprix (grocery store)
How much did it cost: $2.58
Why did we pick it: Honestly the name did it for me, the only thing that could have made me pick another bottle instead would be if there was a chick riding a unicorn on it…
Was it good: I really wanted to like this wine, but the fact that it burned on the way down means that I really can’t recommend it to my valued readers. It does make you wonder though, in a town where it’s as expensive to live as Paris, everyone, and I mean everyone should be able to afford something better than this wine… Keeping that in mind we will try a sub $2 wine in the coming week so stay tuned!
