Le Tour de France wrapped up today on the Champs Elysees today. The three of us headed out to catch the action under cloudy skies and cool temperatures. Upon arriving on the Champs, we realized that there was no way we would ever be able to see anything as there were thousands and thousands of people lining the streets. We retreated back down to the Seine where we got a front row seat. Unfortunately AK got fed up during the long wait (the tour was over an hour late) so she and C headed home.
While the cyclists did 8 loops of the Champs Elysees, they only passed our location once, so I didn’t have much time to grab a quick picture, but what luck in that you can see Alberto Contador and his team! It’s interesting here, the Tour was on tv, but not very often. They never would show an entire stage from start to finish like they do in Canada. And whenever there was coverage, it was mostly 3 people sitting around a desk discussing the local towns they were cycling through, or what past heroes of the tour had accomplished while riding in this area.
