Paris Plage

10 Aug

Every year, Paris turns the side of the Seine into a man-made beach for the month of August.  They truck in sand, beach chairs and misters for Parisians to lounge in the sun along the scenic Seine.  There is of course no swimming in the Seine, although the Paris Triathlon did it’s swim in the river just weeks ago…  There are also many areas set up for kids with baby-foot (foosball), fountains, and a mini zip line.  Several restaurants are also open along the “beach” for people to enjoy the food and sun.

AK enjoyed her first day at the beach, digging in the sand and catching some rays…

There were a series of “misters” that were set up along a make-shift board walk.  They almost looked like palm trees and you could walk underneath them to get a refreshing mist.  AK walked back and forth twice and would have stayed all day had we not made her go.
