Paris, je t’aime…

9 Jun

We are finally here (well, we arrived on Tuesday but due to lack of sleep, we were unable to muster the energy to post anything).  The weather has not cooperated so far, but really, does that matter?  AK, D and I are in the most amazing city for 3 whole months!  We have plenty of time to explore and discover.

The first order of business upon our arrival was to meet with our apartment landlord – I think we were both quite surprised when we stepped in.  I mean, we were prepared for a small space, but this place is SMALL.  I’m fairly certain the listing online included the shelf and counter space in it’s square footage.  D put it best when he said ‘it’s too late now!’ once the landlord left.  Oh well, we will manage.  The great thing is that there is such little space to get dirty.  AK is slowly becoming accustomed to her lack of squirming area – all the more reason to head out and see the city.

I know there is a book on why French women aren’t fat but I’m pretty sure I discovered one of the main reasons: their kitchens are far too small and useless to cook anything!  I don’t know why you would bother – we have a small two burner ceramic cooking top on the counter, a bar fridge and tiny round sink.  If my hips were any wider, I would have to go in sideways.  It’s a good thing I have an oven at school because I would go through withdrawl by the end of the week.

Oh, I almost forgot – I also managed to short out the electricity already and fry our blender for AK’s food.  I should have asked D first how to actually use the adapter for the plugin instead of just pretending I knew what I was doing…now to find a non-designer, affordable hand blender in Paris, not sure where to begin.

Don’t get me wrong here, we are loving being here – it’s just tough adjusting so far.

Apartment updates will certainly be plentiful as we bump into each other and manage to lose things in our 180 square feet, to be continued…
